This project focused primarily on the finishes and character of the house, highlighting the historical essence of the apartment. The layout, quite rigid due to the presence of large load-bearing walls, offered few opportunities for structural changes, but we learned to appreciate this rigidity and adapted to it creatively. Where possible, we preserved the original floors, the beautiful cement tiles, and where they had been replaced with a faux terracotta, we chose to introduce wood, creating a warm and inviting contrast. To give personality to the spaces, we painted the ceilings and enhanced the architecture with elegant moldings that soften the areas. The original doors were carefully restored, while where they were missing, we added a colorful and fun external sliding wall door, bringing a touch of freshness and originality. The entire project was designed to evoke the retro charm of the apartment, yet with a youthful and playful interpretation. The final result is a home that blends the warmth of the past with a young and dynamic spirit.
