This house was, in its own way, a true design challenge. Typically, my projects are characterized by an expressive use of color, but in this case, the client had a very specific vision: a home that exclusively played with the tones of white and black, using materials and finishes strictly in these colors. The only touches of color and originality were introduced through the furniture, mostly inherited from the client’s grandmother, which added a unique and personal character to the space.

The project focused primarily on optimizing the spaces and paying attention to detail, aiming to introduce new elements of interest without compromising the home’s minimalist elegance. A significant example of this approach is the original doors, which were repainted white, with a delicate black border that highlights the carving and emphasizes the shape. Additionally, an antique door was restored and painted to match the others, maintaining visual harmony throughout.

The house already featured beautiful light marble in the living room and checkered parquet floors in the bedrooms, which we decided to preserve and restore, keeping their original charm. To create further stylistic cohesion, the entrance and corridor were finished with the same white marble, framed by a black marble border that emphasizes its visual continuity.

In the kitchen, we designed a white and black optical-patterned floor, while the bathrooms feature premium materials like bardiglio marble and terrazzo, adding a touch of understated elegance to the spaces.

The layout of the house was altered only minimally, with the addition of a double-leaf door in the living room and the creation of a second bathroom, in order to better meet the client’s needs and optimize the functionality of the spaces.
